Overview:

At Camp Rainbow Phoenix, we believe that every child deserves a safe and inclusive space to  explore, learn, and grow. Our one-week overnight summer camps offer 2SLGBTQIA+ youth a unique opportunity to connect with others, build leadership skills, and have fun in a welcoming environment. We are run by pflag Canada and AIDS Committee of Durham Region. Our program is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors and donors.

It is a time to learn, have fun, and an opportunity to make new friends.  As a youth Leadership Camp we focus on building and nurturing the leadership potential and personal resiliency of our campers in an effort to help them become agents of positive social change in their schools, families, and communities.

We have limited spaces, and we generally carry a wait list.

Testimonial

The following testimonial was submitted by Jack, from Orillia, Ontario. They answered the following key questions. Jack rates this opportunity a 9 out of 10.

What stood out about this opportunity that makes it such a unique experience?

This was an amazing leaderships opportunity. I was surround by unique, passionate and charismatic people who were a breath of fresh air to be around. This was a super camp to learn new things, develop leadership skills and test your abilities. It was a really unique space to connect with other members of the LGBTQ+ community and be who you are.

What is something a youth attending this opportunity should know?

Don’t be scared. I was terrified at drop-off as they dont disclose the location of the camp for safety reasons. However don’t worry. it was all good and I had an experience of a lifetime.

What was your favourite activity/experience of the opportunity?

My favourite part was the college and university fair. I got to talk to representatives from university across Canada and even internationally. They had University students come in and talk about their experiences and give advice. I also enjoyed the talent show as so many people preformed great acts.
