What stood out about this opportunity that makes it such a unique experience worthy of being part of The Collection?

When I participate in Summit 360 it was the first time in my life that I had ever attended a summit, let alone a virtual one. It was an unreal experience as the Forum for Young Canadians virtual platform made it as in-peron as you could get. I had a blast meeting people from all over the province and hearing all of their experiences and opinions of political issues and civic-engagement as a whole. The presentations are from some of the most interesting companies and organization in Canada and the whole idea of the Summit was trying to get youth (us) as engaged with government and our communities as possible.

What is something a youth applying to this program should know?

Just sign-up! It can be intimidating signing up to attend an event like this, especially since it is a summit. However it is such a great opportunity to meet new people and to hear presentations from some really great people out there as well. Don't worry if you know nothing about civics, it really is about learning. If you do know a lot about civics, jump right in as well!! There are so many opportunities to have your voice and knowledge heard!

What was your favourite activity/experience in program?

My favourite experience had to be meeting with a member of parliament from Alberta. During one of the break out sessions, we were put into small groups and my group had the pleasure of talking with this MP. It was an awesome experience to be able to talk in a small group and learn from a parliamentarian in-dept about their duties and responsibilities on parliament hill. The fact that I could ask questions about Albertan politics, something I was unfamiliar with as an Ontarian, with an MP of Alberta was an experience that was so special about this opportunity.
