National Youth Advisory Committee members help the RCMP better understand, support and connect with youth by talking about the ways they want to be engaged. National Youth Advisory Committee members learn tools for community engagement, hear about volunteer opportunities, and talk with experts and RCMP members.

The National Youth Advisory Committee helps shape how the RCMP supports youth. It brings together youth from all over Canada to discuss important issues that they face in their respective communities. The National Youth Advisory Committee provides valuable input to RCMP policies, programs and strategies.

Testimonial

The following testimonial was submitted by Ray-Ray G, a grade 10 student from Barrie, Ontario. They answered the following key questions. Ray-Ray rates this program a 10 out of 10.

What stood out about this opportunity that makes it such a unique experience worthy of being part of The Collection?

This truly is a unique opportunity for the national police force, the RCMP, to have a youth body that represents youth voices. The opportunity allows for young Canadians to voice their opinions about important topics impacting youth in their community. The committee discusses topics such as vaping, distracted driving, smoking, substance use, bullying and many more. Not only that, but you get to meet and connect with youth from across the nation!

What is something a youth applying to this program should know?

The special part is this opportunity is very independently lead. Other than the meetings, you have the flexibility to complete your projects when works best to you. Having this flexibility is great when juggling a busy school schedule and extra-curricular commitments. This is a very unique opportunity to make a national impact, receive volunteer hours, and have your voice heard!

What was your favourite activity/experience in program?

My favourite experience is when I did my project on bullying. I was able to share my thoughts about bullying education and prevention through the RCMP and share my ideas for ideal ways to communicate with youth about these issues!
