Overview:
Every summer, high school students are offered a unique law school experience by the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law. Students from across North America and around the world are invited to learn at Canada’s most prestigious law school! During the Law YSP, students currently enrolled in grades 10 through 12 can spend between one and five weeks at the Faculty of Law discussing advanced legal concepts, learning about the reality of the Canadian legal system, and applying their knowledge in a variety of stimulating environments.
For high school students interested in the law and legal issues, the Law YSP offers an unprecedented opportunity to spend time in the fascinating world of Canadian and international law, legal thinking and advocacy.

What stood out about this opportunity that makes it such a unique experience worthy of being part of The Collection?
This unique experience introduced me to a whole new level to the world of law. During this program we had discussion panels and presentations from prominent figures from the legal world including a Supreme Court Justice, Bay Street lawyers and law professors. We also held mock trials, visited court and dove deep into legal negotiations. A once in a lifetime week long experience.
What is something a youth applying to this program should know?
You will meet truly amazing, like-minded teens who share a passion for learning about law. Everyone participating in this program were beyond kind. It was such an amazing experience to meet other youth my age who we passionate about the law and exploring the possibility of becoming a lawyer.
What was your favourite activity/experience in program?
My all time favourite experience of the program is when we went on a field trip to the local court. There, we got to participate in a mock trial in a real courtroom. It was so cool to take the places as lawyer’s as we went trough our “trail”. I was on the defendants legal team. In the mock trail we got to apply the information we learned throughout the week in a simulated court experience. It was truly such a unique experience.
