What stood out about this opportunity that makes it such a unique experience worthy of being part of The Collection?

This is a debate club like no other. It is an online debate club where you meet with people around the world once a week to chat, converse, and develop debate skills. You are taught by passionate individuals in university who have excelled in the debating world. It was so nice to be apart of this group. Each week we developed different debating skills as we were pared off into different groups. You receive feedback and reports about your skills with comments from your instructors.

What is something a youth applying to this program should know?

Remember to keep an open mind! Sure it was intimidating to debate and speak in front of people from around the world, but keep your head held high. You can so much confidence and skill by challenging yourself in this program.

What was your favourite activity/experience in program?

My favourite thing was meeting with youth from all over the world and hearing their stories, perspectives and thoughts on complex issues. There were so many perspectives on deep issues such as religion and economics and it was fascinating to hear everyone’s opinions in an inclusive and non-judgmental environment. It truly was a positive environment, that fostered serious and deep discussions in a way that was approachable for young individuals like myself.
