The Page program is an opportunity for students in grade 8 and 9 (13-15 years old) to gain valuable work experience at the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly. For each sitting week of the Assembly, 6 students (2 from Yellowknife, 4 from outside of Yellowknife) are employed to provide essential services to the Members and Officers of the House. The program is designed to allow students who have an interest in the democratic process to experience firsthand how public policy is decided by the Legislative Assembly in our unique consensus government.

Pages are students that will work in the chamber about 15 hours a week, so they must have good academic standing, self-discipline, and are eager to learn. 

The official languages and educational outreach coordinator will work with principals to share information about the program and ensure that students from across the NWT can participate. To ensure equal representation from all constituencies, students are selected on a constituency/community/school rotational basis.

The Legislative Assembly will provide all meals and accommodations to pages and chaperones travelling to Yellowknife from other communities.
